Daniel Lee Pederson is an emerging name in the choral field. This a cappella piece uses the words of Walt Whitman to celebrate our American heritage. The words and music paint a picture of early pioneers musing around the campfire after supper on the prairie. Masterful writing for the choral voice make this an excellent concert piece for high school or college.

Dr. Jo Ann Miller, from the University of North Dakota, is recognized for her choral excellence. To announce her new series she has selected a piece from a former student, Daniel Pederson. His command for the a capella choral instrument is immediately noticeable in his evocative setting of this Walt Whitman poem. This is the kind of music that keeps choral artistry flourishing and a capella singers returning.
