Season: Christmas
Released: March 2002

From the Judith Herrington Choral Series comes ''Two Christmas American Spirituals,'' for treble choir with piano and tenor saxophone accompaniment. ''Go Tell It!,'' (P1211) the best-known of the two is full of dynamic energy and rhythm. Dr. Unruh's setting of the other, ''Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow!'' (P1202) is appropriately haunting, but grows in intensity and strength. While the two spirituals were designed to be performed as a pair, they can be presented separately with great effect.
