   Here is a masterpiece, a missa brevis merging American hymns and spirituals with traditional choral liturgy. The solo movements have already been popular singles, but Ron has made careful alterations, simplified the keyboard part, and had the entire work orchestrated by fellow professor, John Gerhold. The unique nature of this work, and Ron's excellent reputation, will enable this cantata to be performed in both church and school programs.

   Mattie Stepanek was 14 when he died, but his poetry and enthusiasm caught the notice of celebrities and presidents. Ron Kean has taken Mattie's Christmas poem of peace for all the world and created a melody that helps the message soar. Fitting for children's choirs, treble choirs and even mixed choirs, this is a wonderful song of hope and love.

   Ise Oluwa inaugurates the Ron Kean Multicultural Series in association with Pavane Publishing. It is a praise song from the Yoruba people of Nigeria, West Africa, based on the arrangement made popular by the African American vocal group, Sweet Honey in the Rock. Dr. Kean is the ACDA Chair for Multicultural music and a recognized pioneer in the field. It has already become a popular festival piece for Junior High through Adult voices. The sacred text ""God's work will never be destroyed"" makes it an excellent choice for church as well.

   First made popular by the singing group, ""Sweet Honey in the Rock,"" Ron Kean penned an SATB setting to launch his multi cultural series a few years back. The response to the tune and the series has been overwhelming. This new voicing for 2 or 3 parts opens the door to the smaller and younger choir market. The accompaniment uses various Nigerian percussion instruments with great effect.

   The ""Kyrie"" is perhaps the most frequent prayer set to music, yet Ron Kean's rendition brings new beauty to this age-old supplication.    ""Kyrie Eleison"" is perhaps the oldest corporate prayer, asking God for mercy. Dr. Kean's 2-part setting was released two years ago, and his beautiful melody and elegant vocal writing (the suspensions are ""to-die-for"") along with a dramatic accompaniment, have made it an early best-seller. This SATB setting was specifically commissioned by the Southern California Vocal Association, and brings this gorgeous work to choirs of mixed voices.

   Nationalistic composer Antonin Dvorak created a charming choral number in his Gypsy Song collection. Ron Kean has edited the piece and proudly placed it in his multicultural series.
